In October 2015, the State of New Mexico’s Governor Susana Martinez announced an initiative to bring high-speed Internet access to every classroom by the 2018 school year. By leveraging existing state funds for Internet access, the Public Education Department, the Department of Information Technology, and the Public School Capital Outlay Council’s Public School Facilities Authority will work with local school districts and the national non-profit EducationSuperHighway to develop a plan to meet the 2018 goal.
